Brent Boynton

KOLO-8 News Now Anchor

Brent Boynton fell in love with northern Nevada in 1986, when he helped a friend move to Reno.  He started spending vacations here.  Finally, after spending 15 years anchoring television news in Texas, he got to make Reno his home in 1993.

The northern Nevada landscape is spectacular in its variety, beauty and recreational opportunities, but it is the people and sense of community that cast a unique spell.  They have kept Brent in Reno as his careers have changed.

Brent moved to Channel 8 in 1997 and worked as a member of the “team you know and trust” for more than eight years.

In 2006, Brent went to work as communications director for Congressman Jim Gibbons.  Three months later, he moved to the Gibbons for Governor campaign. After Gibbons was elected governor, he gave Brent the opportunity to be communications director for the chief executive of our state.  It was an honor he will always cherish.

Last year, Channel 8 once again recruited Brent, this time to be the station’s main anchor and assistant news director.  Brent says he’s glad to be back in his true calling, and happy to take a more active role in the daily events of his community.

Brent anchors the evening news on KOLO-8 News Now in Reno.  You can see him at 5:00 and 6:30 weeknights.
